“Color Change”: the story is about to begin
In these days, for those lucky enough to walk among the vineyards of the Members of the Cantina di Ramuscello, something immediately stands out: the small clusters of Pinot Grigio are beginning to change color.
It's one of the most fascinating moments of the year. It is called veraison: a slow, almost silent transition, yet full of meaning. The berries start to transform, shifting from bright green to the typical gray-pink shades. For those who know Pinot Grigio, it's easy to recognize: it’s a white variety, yes, but with gray-colored skin. Hence the name.
Our elder winegrowers remind us every year: once the grapes begin to change color, it’s about 40 days until full ripeness. It’s the countdown to the harvest.
Every passing day in this phase is important. The sun, the cool nights, a timely rain. Everything can make a difference. It’s a time of waiting, observation, and quiet hope. Because every vintage has its own story. And this year, ours is about to begin.
